Thermo Fisher Scientific to Exhibit and Host Seminar at Pharmatex 2008

Hemel Hempstead, UK. (August 21, 2008) - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world
leader in serving science, today announced that it will exhibit and host a seminar
at the annual Pharmatex conference at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Cork, Ireland, 16-18
September 2008. The informative seminar, entitled "Near Infrared Analysis as a
Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Tool for the Pharmaceutical and
Biopharmaceutical Industries," will take place in the Shanagarry Suite on Wednesday
17th September from 14.00-18.00pm and will be hosted by Sheelagh Halsey, NIR
Technical Support Specialist from Thermo Fisher.

The seminar will provide an insight into how the pharmaceutical industry can utilize
near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to aid the understanding and improvement of
pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical processes. NIR spectroscopy can measure
organic materials non-destructively and often non-invasively, making it a viable
solution for in-process analysis of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical materials.

In addition, the workshop will explore current testing methods within pharmaceutical
manufacturing and highlight some of the problems associated with these methods such
as the downtime incurred when waiting for results and the risk of over-blending.
Aimed to educate and enhance understanding of NIR spectroscopy as a process analysis
tool, this interactive seminar will also include a question and answer session.

Targeted at professionals in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries,
Pharmatex is a multi-disciplined conference and exhibition. Offering an extensive
three-day program of seminars, Pharmatex provides an insight into the future
technology, corporate strategy and innovation within the pharmaceutical and
bio-pharmaceutical industry.
